About Department
This Department Comprises Mathematics, Physics, and English. It takes care of foundation courses in Mathematics and Physics. It also imparts training in communication skills, soft skills, personality development and group discussions. Each subject under this Department has its own lab setup and uses its own lab manual for the students. The Department of Mathematics handles wide range of Mathematics courses being offered to Under Graduate and Post Graduate Engineering students of this college. As it is regarded that Mathematics is the language of engineering the role of the department is no less than any mainstream engineering department.
The Department of Physics is recognized for many significant contributions to our understanding of experimental as well as theoretical physics. The courses are designed and taught by reputed academics carrying out cutting-edge physics knowledge. All courses are created in such a way that they are interdisciplinary in nature and can be chosen from any department so one can tailor their degree to their interests.
The Department of English works at the intersections of communication, composition, literature, modern languages, visual studies, linguistics, gender studies, and technical communication. Emerging areas of emphasis include media, global studies, and diversity. In learning and scholarship, students and faculty work to cultivate the whole human being. We help students develop the communicative, analytic, and cultural knowledge to thrive in all aspects of their future lives.
Message from Head of the Department
Our department has a team of qualified and experienced faculty and staff members and we are striving hard continuously to improve upon the quality of education and to maintain its position of leadership in engineering and technology.Importance is given to quality teaching and learning process through faculty development programs for teachers and soft skill programmes for students. Special care is taken about the students whose performance is poor in the examinations through counseling and extra classes.
There is continuous internal evaluation of students through unit tests, internal assessment tests and quiz programmes. The problems of students are solved to the extent possible as and when they arise. The students are also encouraged to participate in seminars conducted by other Engineering Colleges. Expert lectures are arranged every semester by experts from industries and leading Educational Institutions on advance topic to the benefits of both staff and the students. The staff members are encouraged to attend national and state level workshop to enhance their knowledge.

-Programme Outcomes
Programme Outcome of Mathematics - I :
1. Add together infinitely many numbers. 2. Represent a differentiable function f(x) as an infinite sum of powers of x. 3. Decide on convergence or divergence of a wide class of series. 4. See concavity of graph and find out points of inflection. 5. Observe behaviour of function f(x) as x goes to infinity/ negative infinity. 6. Able to evaluate indeterminate forms using L'Hospital's Rule. 7. To answer at least about the convergence or divergence of integral when integral is not easily evaluated using techniques known. 8. Able to evaluate the volume of solids such as pyramid, sphere, etc. by slicing method. 9. Generate the solid by rotating region about an axis in its plane and hence calculating the volume of solid, by disk method. 10. If the solid of revolution has a hole in it, then determine the volume by washer method. 11. Evaluate partial derivatives. 12. Apply the knowledge to solve some practical problems, such as constrained optimization problems and other problems involving Partial differentiation. 13. Evaluate a double integral in polar coordinates. 14. Reverse the order of integration for a double integral. 15. Evaluate a triple integral to find volume in rectangular coordinates, cylindrical coordinates, and spherical coordinates.
Programme Outcome of Physics :
1. The student will demonstrate the ability to think in core concept of their engineering application by studying various topics involved in branch specific applications. 2. The student will demonstrate the ability to use appropriate mathematical techniques and concepts to obtain quantitative solutions to problems in physics. 3. In courses involving laboratory, the student will demonstrate the ability to collect and analyze data and to prepare coherent reports of his or her findings. 4. In a design module project, the student will demonstrate the ability to perform a literature search, to make use of appropriate computational or laboratory skills, and to make an effective written or oral presentation of the results of the project.
Programme Outcome of Communications Skills :
After learning the course the students should be able to 1. To know the process of communication and its components. 2. To improve the language skills i.e. Listening Skills, Speaking Skills, Reading Skills and Writing Skills (LSRW). 3. Construct basic and intermediate skills in English language. 4. To enhance phonetic competence, comprehension skills, presentation skills, group discussion skills etc. 5. To create literature sensibility and learn life skills through it. 6. To build confidence for communicating in English and create interest for the life-long learning of English language.
Laboratories
Physics laboratory of General Department gives practical dimension to the theory knowledge acquired by students during classroom teaching. The lab is well equipped with instruments required to perform experiments which can give students better insight of the subject. Some of the experiments performed by the students in the lab are1. To find dielectric constant of given sample
2. To detect and measure velocity of Ultrasonic Sound
3. To study forward bias and reverse bias characteristics of different diodes
4. To determine numerical aperture of given optical fiber.
