Instrumentation and Controls

About Department
This course is in demand in view of the rapid growth and expansion in the fields of process control and automation industries. The department has set up laboratories dedicated to Instrumentation and process control, Electronics Instrumentation, Basic Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Analytical Instrumentation etc. The department has adequate number of post graduate qualified teachers with experience to meet the academic needs of the students.
Message from Head of the Department
It gives me immense pleasure to state that the Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering has been maintaining exemplary academic record consistently. The Instrumentation and Control Engineering department has been responsible for imparting quality education in various fields of Instrumentation and Control Engineering. The notable asset of our department is its highly motivated, technically qualified and well experienced faculty.
Vision
Instrumentation and Control Engineering department is committed to deliver technically competent, ethically conscious and socially responsible Instrumentation and Control engineers for the betterment of the mankind.
Mission
1. To develop technical competency and capability in students to meet the industrial and societal needs.
2. To inculcate professional excellence in students by creating conducive environment and following best educational/teaching learning practices.
3. To develop ethically conscience and leadership mindset in students leading towards their personal development and holistic development of the society.
Programme Outcomes
1. Engineering knowledge : Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

2. Problem analysis : Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

3. Design/Development of solutions : Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

4. Conduct investigations of complex problems : Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

5. Modern tool usage : Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

6. The engineer and society : Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

7. Environment and sustainability : Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

8. Ethics : Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

9. Individual and team work : Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

Programme Specific Outcomes :

PSO 1 : Demonstrate proficiency in fundamental knowledge in industrial instrumentation and control, and can apply theory to meet the expectations of industry and take up research work in multidisciplinary areas.

PSO 2 : Ability to take up career in automation and optimization in industrial process control with environment protection and safety concern.

PSO 3 : To succeed in industry, technical profession and postgraduate programmes through global, and rigorous education.
Laboratories
1. Electronic Lab : This lab consist various equipments including Digital Storage Oscilloscope, Mixed Signal oscilloscope, Function Generators, DC power Supply.

2. Computer Simulation Lab : This lab has sufficient Computers, Software, Laptopto perform simulation tasks.

3. Measurement and Instrumentation Lab : In this lab we have Transducer Trainer, Various Temperature Sensor Kits, Straing Gauge, LVDT, Load Cell kind of equipments and Trainer Kits.

4. Process Control and PLC/SCADA Lab : This lab consists, Pressure Trainer, Flow Trainer, Temperature Trainer, PLC Trainer, DCS, Valve Demo, etc.
