Prof. (Dr.) Himmat K. Sarvaiya is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Applied Mechanics Department at Shantilal Shah Engineering College (SSEC), Bhavnagar. He has a strong academic background and professional experience in the field of Civil Engineering, particularly in Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Structural Engineering applications. Academic Qualifications: • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering) from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat (2011–2016). • M.Tech. in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, SVNIT, Surat (2010–2012). • B.E. in Civil Engineering, Shantilal Shah Engineering College, Bhavnagar. • Diploma in Civil Engineering (Gold Medalist), Sir Bhavsinhji Polytechnic Institute, Bhavnagar. Professional Experience: • Assistant Professor, Applied Mechanics Department, SSEC, Bhavnagar (Present). • Former Assistant Professor, Applied Mechanics Department, Lukhdhirji Engineering College, Morbi (2016–2022). • Former Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering Department, Marwadi Engineering College, Rajkot (2010–2012). • Former Junior Civil Engineer, Merchant & Associates, Bhavnagar (2006–2008). • Former Technical Assistant, Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation (2005–2006). Throughout his academic career, Dr. Sarvaiya has been deeply engaged in teaching, mentoring students, and contributing to civil engineering research. His research primarily focuses on Geotechnical Engineering, Ground Improvement Techniques, and Applications of Geosynthetics, with a special interest in Stone Column Technologies. He has also guided students in their undergraduate and postgraduate projects, encouraging practical applications of engineering knowledge. Research & Publications: Dr. Sarvaiya has authored and contributed to research publications in reputed journals and conferences in the areas of Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Stabilization, and Foundation Design. His ongoing work on “Recent Applications of Geosynthetics Encased Stone Columns”, reflecting his active engagement in modern soil improvement techniques.
